A Diamond in the Woods

How a Vision and Persistence Brought a Dying Home Back to Life

After sitting vacant for several years, this house was in desperate need of some TLC. We came in and gave the house a complete makeover, including repairing rot issues, updating all systems, and replacing most everything but the bones/framing. The result was a spacious family home that takes advantage of the views, privacy, and the thoughtful spaces originally intended.
Highlights:
  • Replaced the roof, siding, windows, doors, decks, and flooring
  • Updated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • New custom kitchen design, with a sunroom breakfast nook
  • Twin primary suites plus two kids' bedrooms with lofts
  • Refinished the original floating stairway and statement entrance

A House That Was in Serious Trouble

This house had major problems in every space and was in danger of being a complete tear down if something wasn't done immediately

1.

DETERIORATING EXTERIOR
Due to a lack of maintenance, the exterior shell (roof, siding, windows, doors, decks) was in dire need of replacement.

2.

ORIGINAL AND UNUSABLE FINISHES
A lack of cleaning, maintenance, and care left all the surfaces of the home unusable. Mold and safety issues were top concerns.

3.

OUTDATED AND UNSAFE SYSTEMS
All the major systems of the home were outdated and not maintained, creating the need for all new electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.

4.

LACK OF INTENTIONAL DESIGN
Although the home was spacious, rooms were left without a purpose or efficiency. Some spaces need complete redesign due to change in use.

Our Approach...

From the first conversation to the final walkthrough, we guide our clients through every step of the remodeling process. Our design-build approach handles it all - concept development, drawings and rendering, detailed budgets, and a clearly outlined scope of work - so there are no surprises along the way. Once construction begins, we manage every detail, coordinating trades, materials, and finishes to ensure the project is completed with care, quality, and attention to detail.

The Transformation

Safe & Efficient

New systems, rot removal, and replacement of broken and/or unusable materials mean the home is safe, functional, and efficient for years to come!

New Interiors

Light and bright finishes in the home complement the wooded landscape, highlighting many wood features throughout the house including the refinished stairway, and bringing in natural light through large windows in each room.

Thoughtful Spaces

The addition of an office with an exterior entry, loft spaces for kids' bedrooms, upstairs landing space, and dual primary suites take advantage of the large home's square footage while keeping a purposeful layout.
