This 1997 home received a thoughtful kitchen and main-level remodel designed to bring in more light, improve functionality, and create finishes that will age beautifully with a growing young family. The kitchen was completely reimagined with custom cabinetry, updated lighting, and a layout that supports both everyday living and efficient meal prep.

A Space That Always Felt Dark

Heavy and dark finishes added to the dim light of the kitchen and didn't feel cohesive with the bright adjoining family room.

LACK OF PROPER LIGHTING

A lack of overhead and task lighting made cooking and kitchen use frustrating for the homeowners, who frequently turned on all the lights to be in their space.

AWKWARD STORAGE

Wasted spaces and the absence of cabinet drawers created a lack of useful storage. Items were getting lost on pantry shelves that were hard to reach.

HEAVY & DARK FINISHES

The gold wall color and dark finishes contributed to the space's dimness, which needed an update to a more contemporary style.

The different styles of flooring in adjoining rooms made the spaces feel choppy and not cohesive.

The Transformation

Light & Bright

A custom lighting scheme, with undercabinet, pendant, interior cabinet, and recessed ceiling lights was created to increase the brightness and inviting feeling of the space.

Functional Storage

Cabinetry with base drawers that fully extend, pull-out storage above the refrigerator, and a redesigned pantry storage system combine to provide functional, accessible storage for the whole family!

Updated Finishes

Soft, clean finishes were chosen to enhance the spaces clean, bright feel, while reflecting as much light as possible into the room. Refinished hardwood floors grounded the spaces in warmth.
